It is very frustrating to hear about all the incorrect information that clients read somewhere regarding certain immigration applications. That is why I decided to start this series of Debunking myths to set the record straight. The first blog post is dedicated to Partnership visa for a non-EU family member of EU national.

You need to live together for at least a year!
Not true. You need to live together from the moment the application is submitted, but there is no official requirement of you living together prior.
You need to have a joint bank account!
Again, not true. There are various ways how to prove you are in a relationship; and indeed bank account may be one of them. It is however not a requirement.

The application takes years!
Nope, not true; the application approval can come even in 3 months if all the requirements submitted correctly. What's more, one can live and work in the Czech Republic while the application is pending, if application found complete during submission.
You must be married!
No, no, no and again, no! Even unmarried couples can apply for partnership visas.
